Online dictionaries
On the internet we can find any different types of dictionaries. Some of them are specialized for example on slang, idioms, etc.
Macmillan Dictionary
This website is not only a dictionary. It offers you a lot more, for example you can find there games, quizzes, etc.
I didn't know this web before. When I first used it I was really surprised how good source it is. What I appreciate the most is the Blog or BuzzWord, because I think that it's unusual for online dictionaries and it's also creative, you can learn new words easily and.
Oxford Dictionaries
Sometimes I also use this website when I need to find a meaning of some word. I think that the biggest advantage is that you can find there not only meaning of words or phrases, but also grammar (spelling, punctuation, etc.) and thesaurus.
Thesaurus and Dictionary
I know these websites but I don't use them very often. I use the web Dictionary.com just when I need to find a synonym of a word. But what I found impressive was that on these pages you can find interesting articles, besides the meaning, usage and synonyms of some words.
Lingea
This online dictionary is the number one for me. I think that this is the best English-Czech dictionary. It offers wide range of words from many branches.
Google Translator
I suppose that this is the most well-known online dictionary in the word. I can be helpful for someone who doesn't really know some language. It may be good for understanding a context, but I don't think this is a good source, because sometimes its translations are nonsense.
Idiomatic Dictionary
I didn't know this one before, so I tried it. But unfortunately I have to say that I don't like this dictionary. For me it's chaotic and it's not so quick and easy to find something there. But I'm not saying that it's a bad website, that's not true. I just like other online dictionaries more.
Urban dictionary - slang
This is one of my favorite online dictionaries. I use it when I want to know a meaning of a word or phrase and I can't find it anywhere else. This website is focused mostly on slang and "street phrases". Usually native speakers explain there when is the phrase or word used and also what doest it mean.
The visual dictionary
I had no idea that something like this exists. But I found it really useful not only for people who wants to start learning foreign language, but also for people who have wants to learn more words. Because this type of dictionary can help learners to remember words easily because of the visual stimulus.
I like this website because it's well arranged, there is almost every word or phrase and it offers you not only many meanings divided by the level of English, but also plenty of examples of the usage. You can find there also a Grammar section or a translator.
